Summary

With my intensive background in education and technology I have grown a great appreciation for the field of Educational Technology. I started out as a Help Desk Analyst troubleshooting computers and learning about the infrastructure of the modern tool. After working four years in the Help Desk field, the wonderful world of teaching was introduced to me. I worked three years for Montgomery County Public Schools as a Computer Science teacher. Working directly in the education field taught me patience and appreciation for the field. I really enjoyed teaching others because it allowed me to extend my knowledge to other willing young minds.

While teaching I enrolled as a full-time graduate student at The George Washington University in the Educational Technology Leadership program through the School of Education and Human Development. Through this program we studied the Instructional Design process and Distance Education. We had to develop online learning modules for learners and study the many theories in the field. I met many prominent individuals in the Instructional Technology field. My professor, Dr. Badrul Khan, introduced my cohort to his e-Learning framework. His framework basically illustrated how eight dimensions: pedagogical, technological, institutional, interface design, ethical, management, resource support and evaluation all played a pertinent part in the design, implementation and delivery of effective online learning programs. As an intern for the National School Boards Association, I had the opportunity to work with Blackboard Course Management system on the Instructional Design end. I worked with Content Area Experts and managers to create and effective output.

Currently I work as a Training Coordinator for American University. I assist in course development, development of training materials and the delivery of software training courses for staff. I also provide individualized training and support of University-supported software applications. I plan to continually explore the Educational Technology field by building my knowledge, skills and experience in the area.
